The Motor City Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Music Awards 2014 and 2015 Outstanding Community Orchestra, teams up with the nationally renowned Assembly Quartet for an afternoon of music sure to delight all attending our final concert performance of the 2014-2015 season. Formed in 2003, the Assembly Quartet is a professional saxophone quartet of former University of South Carolina graduate students, whose mission is to promote music education and expand the enjoyment of music for people of all ages. Two of the current members are also saxophone instructors at Oakland University & Wayne State University.
Program to include:
Claude Debussy – Prelude to the “Afternoon of a Faun”
Philip Glass – Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Orchestra
Sergei Rachmaninoff – Symphonic Dances, op. 45
Special Francis Scripter tribute
At this concert we will be honoring the late Francis Scripter (“Scrip”), one of our beloved supporters, with a special tribute in memory of his legacy with the Symphony. For a more in depth story about his life and contributions to the community, please read this article from c and g news.
Tickets are $23 for adults, $20 for seniors (62 and above), $10 for college students, and students grades 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at the door or you can purchase tickets here!
Please note that the venue for this concert was changed to the Warren Woods High School Auditorium from the original venue of the Warren Woods Community Auditorium.
