Double Date 2014-2015 Season 42 Fall Opening Performance
Please join the MCSO on a double date at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts as they perform their season opening concert on Sunday, September 28th, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.
“Blended Traditions: A Double Date with the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra”, conducted by Dr. Gregory Cunningham.
The Motor City Symphony, the 2014 Detroit Music Awards’ Outstanding Community Orchestra, kicks off its 42nd season by joining forces with the venerable Scott Gwinell Jazz Orchestra. These two acclaimed ensembles, performing separately and together on one stage will offer a wide variety of works, blending the traditions of classical, jazz and popular music.
The program will include musical selections from the following:
- George Gershwin – An American in Paris
- Astor Piazzolla – Tangazo, Variations on Buenos Aires
- Scott Gwinnell – Brush Fire
- Eden Ahbez – Nature Boy
- Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart – My Funny Valentine
