The Warren Symphony Society, Inc. was founded in 1972 and gave its first concerts during the 1973–74 season. Since that beginning, the Warren Symphony Orchestra has performed hundreds of shows in Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties. The Detroit Free Press wrote that “it has made major contributions to the Detroit area’s cultural life.”
The orchestra has been chosen seven times – 2000, 2001, 2003, 2007, 2014, 2015, and 2017 – as “Outstanding Community Orchestra” at the Detroit Music Awards.
The Warren Symphony reaches as many as 2,000 elementary students annually with its educational Youth Concerts.
The Warren Symphony performs at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts (Clinton Township), Warren Consolidated Performing Arts Center (Sterling Heights) and other sites in the Metro Detroit area.
THE SOCIETY'S STORY
The Warren Symphony Society has been an award-winning cultural force in our area for nearly five decades.
The Detroit Free Press noted, “the Warren Symphony… has always stood out among community orchestras for its ambition and excellence.” Our youth concerts reach thousands of school children every year. We are INSTRUMENTAL TO THE COMMUNITY.Since our very first performance in 1973, The Warren Symphony Orchestra has striven to cultivate a new generation of classical music lovers while giving those patrons with an already sophisticated understanding of classical music opportunities to deepen and broaden their musical interests.Many Michigan soloists have appeared with the orchestra, as have international artists such as Ani and Ida Kavafian, dance companies such as Eisenhower Dance Ensemble and the Kyiv Ballet, and popular attractions such as P.D.Q. Bach, Corky Siegel, and Robert Goulet. The Warren Symphony Society’s educational programs bring thousands of youngsters to an orchestra concert for the first time. Our Classicalpalooza program takes the music to schools, giving students a broad introduction to many well-loved classical pieces.The regular concert season runs November through April.
